Job Description Overview
The Membership Marketing Director is responsible for maximizing membership and membership recruitment through the successful formation and execution of sales and marketing efforts, as well as through the development and maintenance of relationships with existing members, stakeholders, competitors, local community leaders and other various sales prospects. They must be comfortable utilizing professional sales and marketing skills to perform sales calls, generate qualified leads, execute marketing campaigns, and actively develop and participate in outbound sales activities and networking events to create brand awareness within the community.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for achieving sales goals of the Club’s membership department.
• Engages in outbound sales efforts through networking with and calling upon local organizations, members, customers, existing group contacts and the local community to maximize lead generation.
• Network with membership, guests, and the community to maximize leads and referrals: maintaining relationships with previous event hosts and members. Maintain active involvement in community and industry organizations.
• Implement lead generation strategies (e.g., prospecting events, awareness functions, etc.) and develop targeted lead lists for outbound sales efforts. Develop and implement monthly and quarterly sales action plans. Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of sales and marketing programs. Maintain proper use of CRM database, contracts and forms. Effectively tracks the lead source and lost business to understand members resources and loss reasons; utilize information to effectively guide marketing investments.
• Builds relationships and meets the needs of prospective members through engagement tactics such as club tours, identifying needs, pipeline management and relationship marketing strategies.
• Define and administer membership procedures including auditing and maintaining member files and database.
• Responsible for Orientation and Onboarding programs for new members that ensure long-term member retention.
• Processes member resignations; develops reports and undertakes special projects as applicable if membership retention problems arise.
• Develops and adheres to a departmental budget; after approval, monitors and takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.
Qualifications and Knowledge Requirements
• Knowledge of Greater Durham a plus.
• 2-3 years of experience in related field of nonprofit sales, membership sales, or customer relations.
• Four-year college degree preferred but not required.
• Comfortable with lead creation through outbound efforts.
• Proficient in Social Media, Microsoft Office and CRM applications.
